Greggs first-half sales are up by 13.8% with pizza deals driving profits
Greggs has reported a strong financial first half, with like-for-like sales in company-managed shops growing by 7.4% when compared with the equivalent period of 2023.
Total sales for the first half of the year were £960.6 million, an increase of 13.8%.
Key to success
In the first half of 2024, Greggs opened 99 new stores, including 25 franchised units and 30 relocated venues. They closed 18 stores, allowing them to sit at a total of 2,524 stores in July 2024.
Greggs has noted that menu development has been key to its success. The company said its over-ice drinks range is proving successful and now available in 500 shops, with plans to roll out to a further 200 shops this year, while dedicated pizza deals are driving strong sales growth, with hot food also continuing to perform well.
Evening trade (post 4pm) have seen a strong increase in sales. While delivery sales have increased since joining both Just Eat and Uber Eats platforms in 2023.
Greggs is currently focused on investing in its supply chain and technology to support its growth plans, including new manufacturing and distribution sites.
