Roadchef has picked up two awards for its fundraising efforts with Cancer Research UK. They are the Flame of Hope Cancer Research UK internal award, and Cancer Research Corporate Charity Champion of the Year for Mike Jackson, director of supply chain management and head of charity for Roadchef. This is in addition to being shortlisted for the Charity Times Corporate National Partnership Champion award.
Roadchef employees have relished the fundraising challenge, with key highlights including Cancer Research UK’s Shine event and the Jurassic Coast Challenge, which saw 27 employees take on the gruelling walk on England’s south coast. No one has been more committed than Jackson, though. He has completed numerous personal challenges including the Jurassic Coast Challenge and a marathon walk. Despite many fundraising events being cancelled due to Covid-19, he has found a way to continue and will be completing the Lake District 10 Peaks Challenge shortly.
Mark Fox, CEO of Roadchef, said: “We’re extremely proud of what we’ve achieved with Cancer Research UK over the last two and a half years, and are thrilled to know that our fundraising efforts are going towards such a worthy cause. To pick up these awards is testament to the hard work and effort Mike has put into making the partnership a success, and a tribute to our generous staff and customers.”
