Greggs opens 2,500th site

Greggs is on track to reach its five year goal of opening 3,000 stores

In a move towards its goal of operating more than 3,000 sites, food-to-go operator, Greggs, has just opened its 2,500th site.

The 2,500th shop is located in a petrol forecourt in Cobham, Surrey.

In 2021, Greggs launched its five-year growth plan outlining its ambition to reach significantly more than 3,000 shops in the UK in the longer term.

Greggs plans to open between 140 and 160 new shops in 2024, with a focus on expanding its presence in travel hubs and roadside locations.

In 2023 Greggs had a record-breaking year as it had 220 gross shop openings and 145 net new shops.

Tony Rowson, property director at Greggs, said: “We’re proud to have hit this milestone and opened our 2,500th shop in a location that demonstrates the breadth of our estate and the popularity of our brand. We are grateful for the hard work of our teams and the support of our valued partners as we continue to expand towards our vision of significantly more than 3,000 Greggs shops longer term.”
